Happy Australia Day!

Today is Australia Day! So happy, happy to all those out there!

Some history for you taken from Wikipedia site:

Australia Day (previously known as Anniversary Day, Foundation Day, and ANA Day)[1] is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, the date commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of New Holland.[2]

Although it was not known as Australia Day until over a century later, records of celebrations on 26 January date back to 1808, with the first official celebration of the formation of New South Wales held in 1818. It is presently an official public holiday in every state and territory of Australia and is marked by inductions into the Order of Australia and presentations of the Australian of the Year awards, along with an address from the governor-general and prime minister.

The date is controversial to some Australians, particularly those of Indigenous heritage, leading to the use of alternate names, such as Invasion Day and Survival Day. Proposals have been made to change the date of Australia Day, but these have failed to gain widespread public support.

Secretariat - Feedback

I absolutely adored this movie! It's been a LONG time since i have sat through a movie without the occasional yawn and moving about in the seat!

I know it involves a horse and people will probably comment that this is why i was so keen on it ~ but the story line and the strength of an individual to make something happen and come true is amazing! It really shows that if you want to do something in life ~ you can!

I highly recommend that you see this movie and take out of it what you like! I wouldn't mind viewing it again!

" Give thanks for another day of loving "

As it's Friday today, i always like to include something about motivation! I think the saying above is so true! We should be thankful for everyday that we have and what we have accomplished thus far!

It's another weekend to enjoy with your loved ones! I have a busy one! Lots to do and training as far as cycling and running goes! I am also going for a facial tomorrow afternoon; which is well overdue and i think my face is going to be so happy and GLOWING with joy after tomorrow! Can't wait to sit back and relax!

My eating habits have not been great and i really want to make a difference from now! Cause afterall; what you put in, is what you get out with energy, mind, body and soul! I think it's important to be conscious of what you eat and always be thankful for it!

Take a look at this list from Woman's Health ~ Your Ultmate Shopping List! It's really great!

The Taming of the Shrew

This looks like it's going to be good! Plan on watching it sometime in February.

A little bit about the show:

Christopher Sly, a congenial, drunk flung out of a bar by the pub`s Hostess, falls into a deep sleep and dreams a dream. That dream is the story of the taming of Katherine, the Shrew, by Petruchio. This play-within-a-dream, with its wild and giddy uses of disguises, mistaken identities, and confusions provides consummate comedy for all. Circus owner Petruchio drags Katherine into a mad, topsy-turvy world of clowns, jugglers, tumblers, a lion and Petruchio`s spaniel, Troilus. Through this comic, and at times brutal chaos, two of Shakespeare`s most celebrated lovers encounter a rugged path to true love. An Italian Circus is coming to Maynardville! Join us and revel in this fantastic story.

I didn't miss it .... but i fell asleep

Movie update . . .

I am super keen to see this movie. Here's some information on it! Enjoy!

Based on the remarkable true story this inspirational underdog drama based on the novel Secretariat: The Making of a Champion by William Nack, chronicles the spectacular journey of the 1973 Triple Crown-winning racehorse of the same name.

It is also the story of housewife and mother Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) who unwittingly sets off a chain of events when she agrees to take over her ailing father's Virginia-based Meadow Stables, despite her lack of horse-racing knowledge.

Against all odds, Chenery with the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich)manages to navigate the male-dominated business. And when the pair discovers that one of the horses in their stable may have what it takes to go all the way, the whole world watches in amazement as a true legend is born.

This is another one that i have on my cards to see ....

In this thriller from Oscar-winning director Florian Henkel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others) which is produced by Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum (executive producers, Invictus), American tourist Frank Tupelo (Johnny Depp) meets a mysterious beauty who drags him into a dangerous world of intrigue and espionage while he's travelling through Europe

Having fled to the old world to mend a broken heart Frank thinks his meeting with the mysterious and beautiful Elise (Angelina Jolie) is down to chance, however he soon realizes he has been marked by someone with a far bigger, and more dangerous plan in mind.

And before he knows it, Frank is dodging bullets against the breathtaking historic backdrop of Paris and the winding canals of Venice, as he and Elise find themselves unwittingly thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse as the romance between them quickly grows more intense.

SOME TIPS FOR LIVING HEALTHILY IN 2011

Drink plenty of water
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
Eat more foods that grow ON trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured IN plants
Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.
Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day

Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
Don't have negative thoughts on things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
Don't over do. Keep your limits.
Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
Dream more while you are awake.
Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of his/her mistakes in the past that will ruin your present happiness.
Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
Smile and laugh more.
You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree...

Call your family often.
Each day give something good to others.
Forgive everyone for everything.
Try to make at least three people smile each day.
What other people think of you is none of your business.
Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Do the right thing!
Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, or joyful.
GOD heals everything.
However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.
The best is yet to come...
Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

I think the above is all so true and i received this from a colleauge at work!
This "Don't over do. Keep your limits" appealed to me! I think i should really think about this and take it to heart!!! :-)
