Movie Review

This movie is coming out today and looks like it's going to be a winner! Am super keen to see it and it's a definate on my list!

About the movie:

As Good As It Gets director James L. Brooks returns to the big screen with this romantic comedy wherein we meet US National Softball player Lisa (Reese Witherspoon) who has never wanted anything other than to pursue her all-consuming passion for athletic excellence. However, when she is abruptly cut from the national squad and her raison d'etre is suddenly taken from her she finds herself adrift for the first time in her life.

Meanwhile, straight-arrow businessman George (Paul Rudd) is falsely accused of a financial crime which puts his already strained relationship with his father Charles (Jack Nicholson) under further pressure, and he soon finds he has to rely on all of his honesty, integrity and his naturally sunny outlook on life in order to get through.

And when this unlikely pair meet on the worst day of their lives for a pre-arranged first date, they discover to their mutual surprise that despite their woes, just as everything else seems to be falling apart, something truly wonderful might just be about to happen.

Vineyard Hotel - High Tea

We took my mom to the Vineyard Hotel for High Tea on Sunday and it was just lovely! The cakes were amazing and so beautifully decorated! Was delicious! Also, being there brought back so many memories from our wedding day!

Here are some photos from the afternoon! :-)

In the spirit of upcoming Valentines Day ......

I would like to make some of these little guys! They look so delicious! Think i'll be baking this weekend! Here's the recipe!

Valentine's JOLLY JAMMERS

YOU NEED: 200g butter; 100g icing sugar; two large egg yolks; one teaspoon vanilla extract; 250g cake (self-raising) flour, plus extra for rolling; strawberry jam; Icing sugar for dusting.
Makes eight to ten double biscuits.

METHOD: Preheat the oven to 160°C. Beat the butter, icing sugar and egg yolks together until thick and creamy, then add the vanilla extract and flour and beat until the mixture forms a dough.

Wrap in clingfilm and place in the fridge for at least an hour.
Roll out the dough on to a lightly floured surface and cut out 16-20 rounds using a cookie cutter. Cut a heart shape out of the centre of half the rounds.
Place them all on a tray lined with baking paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

If they spread slightly and lose their shape, just re-cut them as they come out of the oven, while the biscuits are still warm. Allow to cool.
To assemble, sandwich the whole rounds and heart cut-out rounds together with strawberry jam. Dust with icing sugar.

Happy Monday :-)
